RANsemi joins Innovate UK-funded MOSAIC-5G consortium
RANsemi is part of the MOSAIC-5G (Multi-vendor Open System Architecture for Integrated Connectivity) consortium, contributing its semiconductor technology and UK-designed hardware to help develop an integrated standalone private 5G network with British technologies and expertise.
Led by Bath-based Aerix, the £4.3 million programme is backed by more than £3.1 million in Innovate UK funding. It aims to simplify the deployment and management of multi-vendor private 5G networks, helping organisations put UK-developed technology to work in practical settings.
Private 5G deployments often require significant engineering effort to integrate equipment and software from different suppliers. MOSAIC-5G will address this challenge through an integrated network architecture, automated deployment and unified network management, with interoperability tested throughout the programme.
The consortium brings together Aerix, Antevia Networks, Spry Fox Networks, Noema Signal Labs, AttoCore, RANsemi Limited, Liverpool 5G and Bath & North East Somerset Council. RANsemi’s UK-designed acceleration hardware is part of the consortium’s combined capabilities, including radio technology, advanced signal processing, the 5G core, network management, and integration and security expertise.
Testing will take place across three complementary environments: Aerix’s live outdoor network in Bath, an industrial robotics trial with use-case partner Extend Robotics in Reading and controlled laboratory testing at Digital Catapult in London. These settings will help demonstrate how the technologies work together under real operating conditions.
The 18-month programme began in August 2026 and will run until January 2028. Planned outputs include reference architectures, interoperability test results and deployment guides to help other UK technology companies build on the work and support wider adoption of private 5G networks.
